The genesis of Hazara University can be traced back to the collective efforts of the Higher Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the University Grants Commission (now Higher Education Commission), which drafted the initial Hazara University Act in 1995. Our journey officially commenced on April 29, 1997, when the Provincial Assembly of the NWFP (Now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) passed the Hazara University Act 1997. The auspicious inauguration took place on April 14, 2002, graced by the esteemed presence of the then Governor, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University.
